Video #2:

Chase’s update following hearing regarding the preliminary injunction filed by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.  According to the ETP lawyers, the drilling is 100% done, however the pipeline will not be functional until April 1.  The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe was trying to force the injunction through “certain legal theories stemming from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Person’s Act.”  Chase concludes that “from the way the judge was asking questions, western jurisprudence doesn’t comprehend the sacred connection that native people have to the water, sacred sites, & the land.”  Chase goes on to remind the moral obligations the U.S. has with Native people, then explains the audacity of the Judge’s character, whom asked, “If ceremonies could be performed with water that is poisoned or toxic either from oil spills or from other contaminants,” and “would that affect Native peoples’ ability to perform those ceremonies?”

Chase goes on to explain that the court’s he is permitted to practice in- that body of law- is designed to expropriate native nations & subjugate native nations within a certain framework- mental- and by extension spiritual- framework.  Chase explains that the frontline is an important aspect of fighting this & that it cannot just be done in the courtroom.
